A Pool Is Important by Rycen D.

Joshua was working hard during his football game.  He was so stressed because they had lost four years in a row.  As he went home, he was acting all agitated because of the game.  His mom told him that he could play games, but he told her that he didn't want to.  All he wanted to do was relax.  So, instead he went home and took a swim in the family pool.  Suddenly his attitude started to get better. Many people don't know that it has been proven that a swimming pool helps you relieve stress, improves your health, and it can bring families together. It is important that families have swimming pools.

All families are stressed out when they come home from work or school.  However, pools can help.  In fact, research shows "Like any regular exercise, pool workouts are great stress relievers ("The Benefits of Water Aerobics").  Swimming can also help relieve your stressed muscles (Logan).  This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to help relieve stress.

Some people are always trying to stay in shape, but they keep getting tired so they can't do it everyday.  In fact research shows that "Having a backyard pool gives you access to numerous ways of keeping in shape" (Logan).  It could help you burn numerous amounts of fat in just minutes. This is a great way to stay active and lose weight at the same time.

A pool can also be a great way for people to bond with each other("Top 10 Benefits of Swimming Pools".  For example, families can use a pool to get fresh air together. Or, pools can also be a great place to have birthday parties.  Parents can teach their kids to swim at a young age.  Families might even discover hings that they didn't know about each other during their family time out in the pool together.  In fact, studies show that it gets harder to teach kids how to swim when they're older.

Some people may say that it's too expensive and it costs too much.  However, many of these same people have money to buy flat screen TVs, xbox ones, and even stuff they don't need.  Just of March 08,2016 32 million TVs were sold and even more TVs are still getting bought.  Not everyone should stop buying TVs, but they should just stop spending so much money on things that they don't need.  Instead they should limit themselves to what they buy and be wise with their money.  A pool is a wise investment because families will spend more time together and get exercise.

If people don't get a pool they will miss out on the opportunity to bond with each other and maybe learn things they never knew before.  Also they will miss out on having better health. How long are you going to wait?  So go to the stores and get a pool so you don't miss out on this opportunity.

Everyone Should Eat Ice-cream

One day a boy came back from a long day of school.  Once he got home, he ate a bowl of ice cream and he was ready to do his homework.  People should eat ice-cream because it provides a great source of calcium.  Also there's even ice-cream for vegans, so if you know somebody that's a vegan tell him or her that there's ice-cream for vegans too.  Ice-cream is cool and very refreshing so when it's a hot day you can just eat ice cream to keep you cool.

Everyone should eat ice cream because ice-cream can provide a person with a number of health benefits.  First, ice-cream can provide a person with energy.  Energy is good because if you don't have that much energy in your body, you won't be able to do many things. Ice- cream can provide you vitamins.  The vitamins ice cream provides you are: vitamin A, B-6, B-12, C and D ("10 Reasons Why Ice-cream Is The Best Dessert Ever").  Ice cream is also a great source of calcium.  Calcium is good because if you want muscles you need to have calcium in your body.

Everyone should eat ice cream because there are ice-cream options for all different people.  For example, ice-cream can come in frozen yogurt, sorbets, gelatos and many more.  There's even ice cream for vegans ("The 20 Reasons Why Ice-cream is Better Than Every Other Dessert in the World").  It's good to have ice- cream for vegans because if you have a family member or somebody you know that is a vegan you can tell them that there's ice cream for vegans so they don't have to miss out on eating ice cream. There's also ice cream that doesnʻt have sugar in it.

Everyone should eat ice cream because ice cream can make you cool.  This is good because if it's a hot sunny day you can eat ice-cream and it will cool you down.  Ice-cream can also prevent blood clotting.  Ice cream can also help you with a sore throat (Hannah). This is helpful because if you have a sore throat you can just eat ice cream and if you don't have ice-cream you can just buy ice-cream from the store because ice-cream is cheap.

Some people might say that there's too much sugar in ice-cream.  However, the key is moderation. For example, eating too much ice-cream in a single day can make you gain weight.  But it doesnʻt mean people should stop eating ice-cream.  Instead, it means that you should eat one serving a day. There's also ice-cream that doesn't have sugar in it.  One brand that offers a no sugar alternative is "Breyers."

If people do not eat ice-cream, then they're missing out on all the good things about ice-cream. Additionally, people will have more energy to do extra stuff. Clearly people need to eat more ice- cream.

Let's Get a Pool by Dawson F.

Jesse just came home from work at 1:00pm in the afternoon.  The sun is blazing and it is very hot and she has some spare time.  No one was home and she had an idea.  She ran outside and bushhh! A big splash!  After a half an hour in the new pool, she became so relaxed that she almost forgot to pick up the kids.  She was tired because in the pool you make your muscles leaner and stronger.  Pools can be beneficial in a number of ways.  Therfore, people should have pools.

How can families improve their bonding time?  A well know writer once said, "Well if you get a pool then it is a fun and relaxing place to spend time"(Gibson).  Have a pool in your own backyard gives you access to a fun time all the time.  Swimming pools are great for both kids and adults.

Also, if you get a pool then you can build leaner muscles.  Another thing is that you will keep your heart rate up when you swim.  Also, swimming lets you work out your lung muscles.  With a pool in your backyard, you will not only have fun, but you will be leaner and stronger (Kostich)!

If people don't get a pool then they will miss out on all the good memories that can be made with people.  Additionally, if people get a pool they you will learn new things about people and make great memories.  This means that everyone should get a pool.

Some argue that a pool is too expensive.  If it is too expensive, then just install a smaller pool; everyone would still be happy.  With a pook, the kids and parents will get out of the house more and have a place to party.  Another thing is that a pool is a good looking addition to your house.

With all the stuff I told you about getting a pool, why shouldn't anyone get a pool?  It will make you stronger and fitter.  You will met new people and all that good stuff.  Clearly you should get a pool and not think about the cost, instead, just have fun.

Technology Distracts by Napua H.

Kaiyana goes home after a long day at school. She doesn't have a lot of homework, so she goes on her phone.  She doesn't realize how much time has passed.  By the time she realizes that she needs to finish her homework, it's already 9:00 pm.  So, she stays up finishing her homework., but If only she knew… technology is a distraction!  In fact, children may experience a number of problems if they keep using technology because the brain is the last organ to fully mature.

Everyone knows that there are many ways to get distracted. One of them is technology.  Technology distracts students and adults from doing the work they need to do.  According to a survey done in 26 states of 675 students, students check their phones 11 times a day on average.  These students don't just make a quick glance to see if anyone is trying to contact them, they spend 20% of their classroom time using technology that is unrelated to class (Reed). This means that students may not end up learning as much as they can.

In addition to technology being distracting, it can also cause problems.  According to psychologist and author Daniel Goleman, children may have problems because the brain doesn't fully mature until the mid-20s.  If students keep using technology at the rate that they are using it, they can end up with problems like not being able to control their emotions or not being able to be empathetic (Schwartz). One danger in this, is that people might start bullying more because they don't see the danger in it.

Not only does technology distract or cause problems, but it also wastes time.  According to a non-profit group called the Information Overload Research Group Knowledge, workers in the U.S. waste 25% of their time dealing with their huge and growing data streams.  People spend over five hours a day on the internet on average, and 64% worry when they don't have access (Rosen and Samuel). This means that instead of people focusing on what they need to get done, they might be worrying about other things.

Some may argue that technology is a tool that helps us in our everyday lives.  They may also argue that technology helps to store information.  However, they may overlook that technology is distracting.  For example, when you read an article once you will still miss important facts.  Until you read it multiple times you can fail to notice the most important facts.  Thus, everything will be good until you look at it over and over again. Therefore, technology users must take a second look at their technology the same way a good reader would take a second look at what they're reading.

If people fail to realize that technology is a distraction, they could be in great danger.  Every year, there are over 330,000 accidents caused by texting, these accidents caused severe injury. This means that 78% of all distracted drivers were distracted because of texting.  This being said, are you sure your technology isn't distracting you?

Adolescents Should Have Less Chores by Tyana R.

After a long, tiring day of school and cheerleading, she comes home with stacks and stacks of homework, which is all due tomorrow! Adding to that, her Mom demands that she do her chores! She's unorganized!  What she needs is to cut chores off her list.  Chores get in a child's way, always making children feel rushed.  In fact, people have much more time to do what they want to do without chores.  And last, if everyone in the family does chores instead of just one person, then the work gets done faster! With these benefits, parents should let adolescents have less chores or no chores at all.

Everyone knows children hate chores but, they probably don't really know the reason why. Chores get in children's way! No one can do anything with chores always blocking their way from playing and doing things that they wanna do! Children always have the burden of either school, activities, or chores.  In a recent article, it even states, "...many worry about adding housework to their childrenʻs burden, already so heavy with school, sports and other activities that many don't get enough sleep"(Arond).

Some children don't even have enough time to do their work because of chores occupying them. So, children end up rushing to finish their homework, which results in them getting everything wrong. This happens because they do not have the time to put in the effort needed.  Children shouldn't have chores until they're mature enough to handle them. In fact a recent article says, "rushing through reading or math assignments can reduce comprehension and lead to errors, and an inability to sit still during class time can affect the students around them, too. Helping kids who seem only to operate in top gear learn to slow down and to tune into the moment can make them more thoughtful and adaptive. If it ever feels like your child is hurtling through life and needs some self-control" (Kulman).

Children will have more time on the weekends without chores! The weekend is all about having fun and relaxing. But, no one can relax and have fun with chores in the way. Children should have breaks and free time! There is a quote, "Children should have fun and shouldnʻt have parents bugging them about chores! Kids should have breaks and do what they want to do without school, parents, and other activities on the weekends" - Unknown.

If everyone in the entire family helped out around the house and did chores together, then chores would get done faster!  This would mean that children wouldn't complain.  If one child has to do chores, the whole family should help out and do them too! In fact a recent article states, " Children also benefit from positive role models: They see that men and women both are important to family life.Chores and housework are unavoidable, and there may not be an ideal division of labor. But when parents cooperate, communicate fairly, and work together, everybody comes out ahead."

Some parents and guardians might argue that giving chores to children is a lesson and makes them responsible, but chores are a burden to ALL children and teens! No one wants to do chores everyday and waste their free time doing work!  Every child wants to enjoy choice and free time.  Parents want to teach their children responsibility and respect, but they can learn that later in life, in young-adult years or when their living on their own!

If adolescents get chores theyʻll always be inside the house and doing chores instead of playing outside and doing interesting stuff like meeting new friends and using their imagination with toys and having fun! They'll always be rushing, chores will get in children's way with homework, activities and they wonʻt have more time doing what they are passionate about! So…less chores should come to adolescents!

Snacking Can Be Done Without Mess by Ezekiel L.

I hate messy food, especially if it is delicious.  But a website says that it is possible to eat snacks without a hassle.  So, now I believe that eating snacks can be done without mess. In fact, snacking can be beneficial, delicious, and neat.  In a recent news article it says, "Bring some of these delicious, beneficial, good-for-you snacks wherever you go."  People should be able to snack wherever they are comfortable.

Who likes messy snacks? Mess-free snacks are beneficial and delicious. A recent article says, "Mess-free snacks are low on calories and tasty"(Oprah). Mess-free snacks help provide a healthier lifestyle and environment.  So, people should be able to snack in any room of the house if they are eating mess-free.  In fact, a lot of people enjoy these snacks. Another recent article says, "Mess-free snacks are easy to clean up and are affordable"(Kallman).  Therefore, mess-free snacks are barely messy and are even cheap to buy.

Did you know that mess-free snacks are tasty too? Another article says, "A huge amount of people enjoy the taste"(Meyers). Also, it says, "There's a method for people who like the messy snacks, but just hate the mess."  This means that even the messy, delicious snacks people love, can be eaten in a neat way.

Some argue that mess-free snacks aren't healthy. However, that assumption is wrong. For example, mess-free snacks are extremely beneficial because they are clean and are low on fat. On the other hand, junk food is very messy and leads to gaining weight.

If people don't eat mess-free snacks theyʻll have to clean up food after they eat. Additionally, they will get an unhealthy lifestyle. What are you waiting for go and get some tasty and mess free snacks to enjoy in any room of the house.

Video Games by Kaelum L.

"Video Games have a surprising amount of reasons why they can be beneficial to your health." says Kara Loo. She studied Creative Writing and Film at Stanford University.  She has been working on narrative mobile games since 2008 at Electronic Arts, where she was a game story writer and a studio manager working on "Surviving High School" and "Cause of Death." Video games can slow down aging, help people form teamwork skills, and relieve depression.  In fact, everyone can benefit from video games.

First, video games can slow aging, this is beneficial to your health because you can live longer. "We've shown that 10 hours is enough to slow the decline by several years. We saw a range across all our tests from a minimum of a year-and-a-half all the way up to about six-and-a-half years of recovery or improvement. From just 10 to 14 hours of training, that's quite a lot of improvement"(@progamedesigns).  This means when you play games for a certain amount of time you can slow down aging.

Video games can also be good for you because you use teamwork.  For example, gaming can help people work together to solve problems. Working together can be accomplished while playing video games because, "In many of these games, players work together in teams to achieve goals, compete against other players or both. Their teamwork abilities are put to the test, and they must hone their communication and interpersonal skills in order to progress (Loo).  This means gaming can help kids build teamwork skills that are necessary to solving problems.

Third, if you are depressed, then play video games!  A study shows,"brain scans show the most active parts of the brain are the rewards pathway system, which is associated with motivation and goal orientation, and the hippocampus, which is associated with learning and memory. These are the two main parts of the brain that don't activate when people are suffering from depression" (time.com). Specifically, when people play video games the brain becomes more cheerful.  The satisfaction of completing a game or level makes the person playing it feel rewarded,  and thus relieves stress. You can also learn about things you may never experience in the real world as well as build creativity.  Clearly, gaming can help people with everyday life problems, which all people have.

Some people might wonder, well since it rewards you so much, is it going to be more addicting? However, you have to monitor yourself while playing and not play for too long.  This is because if you ban yourself from playing video games, then all the brain thinks about is when the next time will be that it's going to play its next game.  Video games are like alcohol because if you drink too much you'll get addicted and if you completely just stop, then you experience withdraw.  So, it's important to use it in moderation so that you don't get too addicted.

If you don't play video games you lose out on teamwork skills, and relieving stress in a fun way.  If you don't play video games then you are going to miss out on all the fun and joy it gives to people. Video games should be apart of every one's life.

Pets Are Allowed! by Shawna M.

Sally went on a field trip to the zoo with her classmates.  They saw rabbits, dogs, lizards, monkeys, and so on.  When Sally came home, she asked her parents if she could have a pet, the answer was negative.  Sally stated that pets make people feel more ecstatic, improve health benefits, and they make people less prone to allergies or asthma. Clearly, families should have pets in their households.

Do you have children who you long to make happy?  If so, you can get them a pet of their dreams! Family Pets can help you or your children experience low blood pressure and or better cognitive/communication gains.  When you play with your pet they can increase the levels of serotonin and dopamine in your brain (Dolmage).  Serotonin and dopamine are chemicals that make people feel happier.

Need a friend that will make you happy by improving your health benefits? If so, get a pet. Not only do pets make you happy, they also lower high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides (cholesterol and triglycerides up your risk of heart disease). Your furry friends also keep you up and moving! A study by NIH showed that people who took their dogs out regularly had more physical stamina (Humana).

A-choo!! Do you have allergies like me? If you do... get a pet!  Pets make you less prone to allergies by 33%.  Pets do this by improving your immune system and decreasing the allergens in your body (Mccandless).

Some argue that pets cost way too much.  However, if people take good care of them, money won't be much of a problem.  For example, not taking care of a home pet can lead to taking them to the vet! This situation is like buying really expensive stuff for your wants or needs.  If people don't get a pet, they will miss out on being way more healthy. Additionally, people might experience loneliness some point in their lives.  Clearly people need pets in their households.

Chores and Housework
By Ava Leilani S.

Thomas Jefferson once said "All men are created equal; they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Splitting up chores among the household members is just another way of implying equal human rights.  It is necessary to split up housework if you want better relationships with the people in your house. Having too much to do will make you tired and result in only realizing the negatives in your life. Having too much work will also result in having high levels of stress.

Researchers have found that "Laundry, cleaning, childcare, monitoring playdates, and buying groceries" can help you with your marriages and relationships with your family. And during my research I found the same evidence in various cities (Berlatsky).

One mom, was tired of doing all the dirty work and decided to do something about it.  She was tired of doing chore after chore, of her kids fighting every five minutes, and of her husband coming back home crabby and short tempered. This mother was Elizabeth Monier- Williams a marketing digital culture analysis.   She found that splitting up housework benefited her family. Splitting up housework will not only help you with your relationships but will also reduce stress levels.  Splitting up housework among household members will ultimately lower your stress levels a lot! It will also clear up time for you, so you can have more me time and more family time (Kristine Lockwood).

Some argue that children are too young to be doing chores and should be playing outside. But when children do chores they gain a certain responsibility that will help them when they get older. If they learn how to take responsibility of housework when they are still young, when they get older they will apply this to their own houses and routines.  And besides that, kids don't play outside all the time, they would rather go on their devices, therefore not being active and just zoning out.

If you don't split housework and chores among the people in the household, you'll develop bad relationships.  When you split up housework and chores everyone will reduce their stress levels and will have more free time to themselves and their families.  Chores should be divided among the people per household in order to maintain stable relationships and a healthy way of living.

This World Called Technology by Kaiyana T.

One day Jake was texting while walking across the street.  He did not notice the car that was about to turn right around the corner and suddenly, BOOM! The car hit the pole and was halfway off the corner ledge, and could you believe it, Jake just walked away on his phone again. The car may not have hurt him, but his phone sure did. You see technology causes you to focus more on a screen rather than what you are doing or the work you need to do.  Technology is also very addicting, which can distract you just like it did to Jake.  Technology can also cause obesity, like when you're on it too long instead of actually being active.

We all have those "I'm gonna check my phone just for second" moments and the next thing you know an hour has passed by already! Well, that's what technology can do; it makes you want to go on it and then it draws you away from your work.  We often have the ability to control our own social networking sites, which most of the time draws us in, as said in a recent article (Thorpe).  Just like Jake, we can be negatively impacted by technology by paying more attention to it rather than what we have to do or learn.

What can happen to us when paying so much attention to technology?  We get addicted that's what! "55% of the respondents noted their before-bed TV sessions were costing them up to three hours of sleep per night" (Yovino).  This kind of behavior also impacts one's actions a job.  The bright light of your device while your staying up on it, is bad for you because it affects the secretion of melatonin, which is a hormone that is needed for equal amounts of sleep time.  Therefore, it is not so good being addicted to something other than food huh!

Obesity, it spreads so fast and technology plays a big part in that. Studies prove that people who use technology less are more likely to live happier and healthier than those who use it more.  In an article, it states, "We use more technology, we exercise less" (Deloatch).  This is important to remember the next time you take a "couple seconds" to check your phone!  Technology is always gonna make a difference, but it's our choice on what kind of difference we want it to make.

Other people argue that "well technology can help us have a better education."  However, there are many other resources that can help us to learn! There are always books, people you can talk to, places you can go, and those are just some of the resources we have.  Trust me if our kupuna could live without technology, then we can too.

If you do stay on technology for too long you won't be able to sleep very well, and who doesn't want good sleep? Staying up super late, sitting on the couch for too long, and it's all for technology. That's what causes you to be obese. You could possibly get injured too. For example, if you text or look at something like Facebook while driving and you are not paying attention to what you are doing, then you could crash or worse! Those are just some reasons that technology is bad for you. Technology can be a useful servant but a dangerous master (Christian Lous Lange).  Don't let your technology be your master!

Limit Technology and Spend More Time with Your Family
By Tehya T.

According to research, 51% of moms feel that technology is a distraction to families (Orlando). Clearly, moms want to spend more time with their families.  How can families connect if everyone is always on a device? Technology is very effective, and that is why we find ourselves using it more and more. However, technology takes family time away, results in less communication face to face, and it changes our moods and how we treat and act to our family.  By limiting technology, families will be able to spend more time together.

First of all, technology takes away family time.  Technology is very easy to get a hold of and it can easily distract people.  For example, family dinners are no longer the same as they were years ago. Families used to talk about their day and what happened at school or work. However, today families might not even have dinner together because of technology. "Our fixation with technology has created new routines that are very different from traditional notions of family time" (Orlando). Technology can also distract parents with work. Things like, phone calls and or work on the computer can easily take up to more than half of your day. "Remember that technology is a useful servant but a dangerous master." - Christian Lous Lange.  Today parents are too busy working rather than spending time with their families.

Second, technology causes families to communicate less.  Technology can isolate children and adults. Technology is growing with new apps, videos, and games.  Everyday people are interacting face to face less and less.  There are numerous articles written about this topic.  One article states, "...children's absorption in technology, from texting to playing video games, does by there limit their availability to communicate with their parents" (Taylor). With most adults having to work with computers or phones, they sometimes get caught up in their phones or computers, and sometimes it may not even be for work.  Situations like the following, "As it turned out, mom was so engrossed with an online conversation on her mobile that she didn't even notice her young son calling out for attention" (Orlando), are becoming more and more common. Once in awhile families should disconnect and communicate.

Lastly, technology changes our moods and how we treat our families. Say that someone posted something on Instagram and got mean comments. Someone would probably feel sad, mad, or even hurt.  As a result, he or she would most likely treat their family meanly.  Or, the opposite situation could happen.  For example, a person could post something and get likes and nice comments. This would most likely result treating his or her family with respect and a feeling of happiness. A recent study showed that "when we are feeling blue we use social media sites, such as Facebook, to find friends that are also having a bad day, suffered a setback or going through a tough time in their lives" (Steakley).  Therefore, be aware of the things that you are doing online because that could affect your mood.

Some people argue that technology does not cause families to communicate less face to face. However, when families are in their living rooms together and everyone is on their phones or watching tv, there is not too much talking. Everyone is so focused on what they are doing or what they are watching, that they are not talking or communicating with each other.  This is why technology does cause families to communicate less.

If families don't limit their use of technology, they may miss out on family moments or activities. Additionally, they may not communicate with each other and miss out on special events or occasions. Do families really want this to happen? So, people need to limit the technology and spend more family time together.

Families Should Purchase Treadmills - Anonymous

I know how to  lose weight, if you want to lose weight you should get a treadmill. Treadmills are very helpful if people want to get fit.  It can make people exercise more.  So what I am trying to say is that treadmills could be a big part of your life, (in an exercising way).  So, hopefully you choose to exercise because you will start to feel better, be fit, and even look better than ever.

From exercising you will feel better.  You will feel better because your body will react to your health, and your mind will react to your health, so you will feel better. I have experienced this so you should trust me.

Exercising will make you look fit/better.  It will make you look better because you are getting skinny and stronger as you exercise. So the benefit of exercising is that you also look better.

When you exercise you start to get fit.  So when you exercise you get stronger and your appearance will look better along with feeling stronger.  So if you stay fit and keep exercising, then you can feel awesome

Some argue that treadmills are too big or take up too much room in a house.  However, treadmills can make people skinny and strengthen legs. For example, a boy named Chris exercised every day and his legs got a lot stronger, he could run a mile in 8 minutes instead of 9.  This example shows how much he changed.  He also got a lot skinnier from just running on a treadmill.

If   people donʻt exercise, they will miss feeling their best, and people might become overweight to the point that they can't even walk any more.  Clearly they will miss out on the benefits of working out.  Or, they may even have a  hard time breathing. Clearly people need to exercise more.

Give Older Siblings Chores by Briana G.

Sally is sitting in her room trying to do her homework but all of a sudden her mom walks in and says, “Are your chores done yet?”
Sally replies “No , why do I have to do all the chores, tell Shawna to do it. She's older!”
Unlike others, Sally never has time for homework because of chores…… but do you know who does? Her sister Shawna.
New research has shown that older siblings gain skills by doing chores: perseverance, self-discipline, and tolerance for frustration. Chores increase self-esteem, sense of belonging, and teaches them organization and cleanliness. Lastly, kids who do chores have better attitudes towards chores in the future and a better work ethic. Therefore, older siblings should have more chores than younger siblings.
It is well known that younger siblings shouldn't have more chores than older siblings. Here's why, new research has shown that older siblings gain skills by doing chores: Perseverance, self-discipline, and frustration tolerance. These skills help children to build good work ethic. Work ethic is learned. Most of the time older siblings will say that it’s  unfair, but our parents know what they are doing they do it for your own good and for your learning (Peters).
There are many ways that a child could get out of doing chores. But study after study has shown that chores increase many things such as: self-esteem, sense of belonging, and it teaches organization and cleanliness. Chores also help with gross-motor and fine motor skills. Other skills that are created are gratification and self-confidence. Those skills help kids to follow through on things (Cardinal).
Chores are never fun am I right? But we all have them. At one point in our lives they are never escapable. Here are some tips that will make chores easier for you and your child. First, make sure that your attitude is good because they will reflect on how you feel about chores or housework. Second, you should not give rewards if the work is not completed or you feel that the work is not done to the fullest of their ability. A reward for chores should not be present (Parker).

Some parents will say that more chores for an older sibling is unfair or the older sibling will assume that younger children are being favored. However, the key to chores is that you need to give more chores to your older child rather than your younger child. For example, it teaches them organization and cleanliness. But, a parent shouldn’t just overload an older child they should just monitor it so that they will always have a good amount without overloading any one person.

If parents don’t give their older children more chores then they will miss out on boosting older children's self-esteem and self-confidence. Additionally, People might experience frustration when it comes to tolerance, not feel a sense of belonging, and struggle with perseverance. Obviously, older siblings should always have more chores than younger siblings. Not always do they need way more, but instead, they need just the right amount.

Having a Pool of Your Own by Journey L.

In Hawaii we go to this wonderful place that all families go. Parents go directly from breakfast to a beach chair by a pool to watch their children swim with cousins. One of them swims to get fit, and the other swims whenever he is stressed out. The pool helps us enjoy family time. Having a pool is a good thing for adults to get for their family.

Having a swimming pool is good for spending time as a family. It lets kids get off their devices and lets them play outside. It is also good to have a pool because you can have a pool party with family members you haven't seen in a long time. It also lets people enjoy each other outside instead of staying in the house all day because itʻs good to be out of the house.

Besides having family time it gives you a workout. Swimming in a swimming pool for a long time consistently can give you good cardio. It will also let you stay home to get a workout instead of always going to the gym. It is also good for your aerobic workout.

Another reason is swimming in a pool makes people less stressed out. “If you are having a bad day and you jump into a pool and swim it will change your mood change” (Logan). When itʻs a hot day and you are bored in your house you can always jump in the pool to cool off.

Yes, pools are expensive to buy to get a workout. However, itʻs better than needing to pay and drive to the gym. Swimming in a pool is better for your cardio than the gym.  But it dosenʻt mean stop going to the gym to get fit. This is also true for pools.

If people do not get a pool they will miss out on things like family time. People will also miss an opportunity to get fit. It can also be an opportunity for people to have time away from stress. But you can still go to the gym and workout. That is why it's good for people to get pools for their homes.

Kenui K

There was a boy named Ben. He was an active person, so he played many sports. But, he only had his small backyard to practice and play with friends when they came over. So, nobody ever came over to his house to play. Big backyards have lots of benefits and this is where kids can express themselves by playing sports or creating new things. One source says it well,I grew up playing music and enjoying good food, friends and family in my own backyard (Atkins).

A big yard has many benefits. Some benefits are you can make a lot of cool things. Another is that mowing the lawn can be a good exercise (Andrews). Some people argue that a big yard means that it might get messy because of all the toys and other stuff, but that's why there should be rules about cleaning the yard after you play outside. Something else that people might argue about is that it costs too much. But, if you have a bigger yard then you can use the space as a way to have a grill or store things.

Other reasons why a big yard is good is that you spend more time outside. With all of this outdoor space, people can camp or swim in a pool with friends and maybe play sports like soccer or football("Backyard Courts and Home Gyms"). Some people might argue that their children donʻt play outside as much, but that's why! people should do more family activities outside. Another thing that people might argue is: why spend so much money if we have a small family? That's why people invite relatives or friends over for a play date or a sleepover.

The last reason why a big yard is good is that kids can express themselves. Like if they have a big imagination, then they can use a play area to play and have fun. Or, if they are very active then they can use the backyard as a time waster ("Ditch the Indoors"). People might argue that their children don't have an imagination. However, you don't need an imagination to have fun outside. That's why people play with friends and or family memebers.

If people have a big back yard they can do lots of stuff like camp, make a pool, and have a fun time together.

Cell Phones Taking Over by Aliyah H.
“Your cell phone has already replaced your camera, calendar and alarm clock… Don't let it replace your family” -unknown. Your cell phone is practically taking over your life, but all of us need to make sure and remember that family should always come first.  New studies show that people that are 8-18-years-olds spend over 7 hours a day using electronic devices.  So that's over 50 hours per week.  Also that's over 200 hours a month!  That's why everyone should have more family and friend time than technology time.

Everyone knows that our cell phones are replacing everything.  However, family should be our first priority.  Someone could be saying something important to you, but you might not even hear them or even notice that someone was talking to you because your eyes are looking at your phone.  That's why there should be more family and friend time and less technology time.

Another thing is that everything your child does or posts on the internet leaves something called a digital footprint even when they delete something.  That   could be life threatening for them knowing that whatever they posted years ago and deleted is still out there.  “This new technology also opens a new life or world for people especially teenagers” (Weisskirch).

Everyone's cell phone and electronic devices are taking over the world as we know it.  Come on now, we hardly ever see people having a real face to face conversation in public anymore.  Instead, people are always talking or texting on their devices.  Most of the time their texting the person right next to them rather than talking to him or her.  Also, the behavior of phones is having a bad influence on our kids and also even adults (D.r  Radesky).

It is also unsafe for kids to be on the internet all the time because people can be cyberbullying them and there are lots of inappropriate things online that you definitely don't want your children looking at.

Another reason cell phones are taking over is because they are addicting to most people.  Some people can't even have their phone in another room because they think someone will text them and they feel like they need to text them right back.  People use their technology and media devices so often that they need to keep their devices an arm's length away at the most!  I also believe that if our kupuna could live without technology so can we!  So, we don't always need technology.

Some people argue that time on technology is better than family time.  However, what people don’t realize is that family time is to talk and have a face to face conversation about your day and share that emotion, which you can’t do if your eyes are locked on a screen.  For example, if someone that you needed to talk to was right in front of you, you're not going to stop what you're doing and pull out your phone and text them, you arejust going to go right ahead and talk to them!

If people use too much technology then they’re going to miss out on creating that family bond that could last a lifetime. This is why we should think before letting our kids into this whole new world called Technology. Clearly people should spend way more time with their family and friends verses technology!

Bigger Playing Environment For Kids by Sara S.

Jennie Finch once said, “I love being outside with my boys playing tag or trying to keep up with them.” Kids should be able to play in a bigger yard or environment. A bigger environment gives kids more freedom to play different games than the ones that they play in smaller environments. For example, bigger outdoor environments allow for things like volleyball or soccer. When kids have that freedom you will see what they can create with their imaginations.

Researchers have found that the more space you have to play in, the more freedom kids feel to play different games, and different games help take care of different parts of your body so you can stay healthy. The more freedom your children get, the more athletic they will get. The more athletic they get, the more that they want to keep playing outside because they want to get even more athletic (Alfono).

Children sometimes act like they are miserable because they have nothing to play when they're outside. That's why you should give them the freedom to play any game they want and not lower their expectations. When a child plays different games that they love, it could lead them on a path to their future. For example, if your child likes to play soccer and has all of the equipment that is needed, he or she might practice hard enough that he or she becomes really good, and might turn out to be even better in the future ("Make Way for Play").

When your child plays volleyball or soccer they can begin setting out for what they want to do later in life. Volleyball and soccer are both professional sports that people play, so maybe your child wants to be like those professional sports people on TV. They are both sports that you can play in your backyard that get you more active. When you are more active it helps a lot with your health and that is good if you want to grow up and wanting to be a professional ("National Physical Fitness and Sports Month").

Some people argue that when kids play in a bigger yard their parents can’t keep track of where their children are running off to. But, your child can play in any place if your yard is bigger. Then, parents don't have to make special boundaries for their children. If you put special boundaries for your child, what happens to the freedom of the backyard space? Without the child’s freedom he or she is just going to go back to being miserable because of all the special rules and boundaries.

If you don’t let your child have the freedom in the backyard that they deserve, they will just end up on the couch watching Youtube or playing video games and slowly turn into a couch potato.  If you let them turn into a couch potato, it might take awhile to get them active again. Children should be able to play in a bigger environments with freedom.

Every Home and School Should Have a Pool!!!!! by Kekanaka E.

He's doing his work for 8 to 12 hours in classrooms with no a/c. By the time he gets to his dorm room he is  exhauseted and over heated and not able to go to the gym. So homes and schools shoulds have a pool!!! Having a pool would allow adults, kids, and teenagers to be in one place cooling off and relaxing at the same time.
Why do adults and kids want to stay cool people ask? Well, being cool on hot days is important because for a 1month-100 year old person, staying in the sun too long without drinking any water to cool you off can cause a heatstroke. Also, swimming can decrease stress and can help families get together to create memories ("Mental and Physical Benefits of Swimming").
Being  relaxed can relieve stress for some people. Swimming can enhance people's health and can relieve stress (Swimming - Health Benefits). This is because swimming keeps your heart rate up, but takes  some of the impact stress off of your body. Swimming can be a relaxing and peaceful form of exercise. Swimming can alleviate stress from parts of your body.
Being fit allows people to do more things in life. The pool has many uses that can help people's bodies to be strong and healthy (Robinson). Also, how can a pool give people a workout some ask? Well, swimming uses all your muscles, like: the neck, traps, shoulders, chest, etc. It builds edurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness.
Some people might argue that having a pool at home and at school is very expensive to have. However, it's about health and fitness. For example, some people still buy it for health and fitness reasons.

If people don't swim in a swimming pool then they are going to miss out on health and fitness benefits. Additionally, they might experience unhealthy issues. So, that's why homes and schools should have a pool.

Unlimited Benefits by Selah S. “The number one benefit, of information on technology, is that it empowers people to do what theywant to do. It lets people be creative, productive, and they can learn things that they have never known before. So, in a sense it is all about potential” (Palmer). Being on technology is a great thingto do, and should not be a problem for kids. It is making us smarter, and it is making us more adjusted to our surroundings.

The fact of having technology, is to use it when we have questions about things.  When we are curious, we count on Google to have the answers. We need to be straightforward and not be shy with the things we are confused about. Some people might think Googling something gives you wrong information, but all that is needed to avoid that is teaching kids how to find good information using Google searches. Technology has become the most important thing during 2016. If technology is used correctly, it will make other kids more ready for the future and they will know how to use it more responsibly as they go forward into adulthood (Meredith).

You know technology right? We use it to help us with the problems we encounter in life. It makes life easier. Could you imagine life if we did not have it? We better acknowledge it before it turns into something different in the future. We should never have doubts on allowing time for technology because it is the key to solving problems (Mims).

Can you think of solving problems without technology? We use it everyday and we must know how it changes, as it changes, so that we are not left behind. If it keeps changing, and we're not ready, then we will be clueless and not know what to do if we get stuck. Technology has to be our first priority. It has been around for a while and some people still don't know how to use it. So, we need to make sure everyone learns it and that they can teach their children so that the information life cycle continues.

Some people might say that kids should have a certain amount of time on their technology. However, if we allow technology to be used more, then young kids learn how to use sites more maturely and wisely. For example, if a kid is on technology for a limited time, then they might miss out on opportunities to learn new things and teach those new things to other people.

Children who do go on technology might be the future scientists of the world. So embrace it and let young children be on their devices.

Drink More Tea by Kamakani M.
A 12-week trial by Japanese researchers, which tracked 35 men who were trying to lose weight, found that those who drank tea high in catechins lost the most weight and also recorded the greatest improvements in BMI, waist measurements, body fat mass, subcutaneous fat and cholesterol levels” (Carroll).  If you want to lose weight then tea will help you, I don’t see why you wouldn’t help yourself. If tea does this and many other things to help your body then everybody should drink tea.
Green tea is known for making people lose weight. With that, it is also known for lowering bad cholesterols. This only helps with a portion so don’t completely endorse it. However drink teas with a certain amount of properties in it. In this case Catechins but others are helpful (Carroll).

Other benefits of drinking tea are that some teas can lower the risk of diabetes. A meta analysis with many authorities in the medical field, shows that an additional 2 cups of tea per day lowers the risk of developing type 3 and type 2 Diabetes by 46%. Also, black tea is known to strengthen bones says Verona M. Hegarty Phd. in gerontology (Edgar).

Why tea? Tea also has less caffeine than coffee. This means that people who drink tea instead of coffee get less of the bad side of effects from caffeine. Tea even has less caffeine than most sodas and sports drinks, making tea a healthy alternative ("Drinking Healthy: Benefits and Misconceptions").

Some might say that tea is still bad for you because it has caffeine, and even if it has a very low amount it is still bad. However, other drinks have way more caffeine that are not coffee. These include various sodas and sports drinks, these usually contain about 90 ml of caffeine as compared to an average amount of caffeine which is in tea, 40ml. This is only in black teas so other teas like ginger tea or rooibos teas are caffeine free making them perfect for every audience.(Edgar) (Watson).

If you don’t drink these teas, then you will not experience all of the benefits of this drink. When don’t drink tea you will not experience the lower risk of diabetes, you won’t experience lowering bad cholesterols, better bmi results and weight lowering. With all of those benefits you also get the same results as coffee with more healthy side effects and less caffeine (Carroll).
